Coach Driver Training Changed My Life
L&T Transport Training Services sponsorship helped me to get my dream job.
All of her life, Leanne Marsh (30), of South Kirby, near Pontefract, had dreamed of becoming a coach driver and taking some coach driver training.
Her dad and grandad, before him, were both bus/coach drivers and Leanne regularly spent time with them on coach journeys.
Five years ago, when she was one of the first people to be sponsored through their PCV bus driving test by Fitzwilliam based L&T Transport Training Services, her dream came true.
Leanne passed her coach driving test first time and started what she calls ‘my dream job’ with Browns Coaches in South Kirby.
However, three years into her career, Leanne experienced personal setbacks involving the health of her daughter and the death of her father two years ago. This left Leanne with her own health issues that she fought to overcome.
Coach driving is in my blood
“Coaches are such a big part of our family’s life”, says Leanne, “that it was my Dad’s wish that I should drive him to his funeral in a coach. I was so proud to do that”, she said.
Having taken time out of her career, Leanne has got her life back on track. She has recently taken her first steps back to regular coach driving by volunteering to drive day trips within her local area.
“My L&T Transport Training Services‘ coach driver training really did change my life. I couldn’t stop smiling when I passed my coach driving test and literally bounced into work each day!”
Of her experience with L&T and the training process, she continues: “On my first lesson, I was so nervous that I was shaking. The instructor told me that if I could drive a car then a coach is no different, just bigger.”
“Without the help of Jo and Malcolm Lloyd, and Rob Taylor, all co-owners of L&T Transport Training, none of this would have been possible. I will be forever grateful to them all for their sponsorship, helping me to get through my PCV test and I can’t thank them enough.”
Back behind the wheel
Browns Coaches is now giving Leanne the opportunity to put the last two years behind her and she looks forward to renewing her relationship with the road. Helping people overcome their own difficulties by providing regular community-funded trips is Leanne’s first step back into full time commercial coach driving.
L&T Transport Training Services was founded in Fitzwilliam in 1986 and provides comprehensive lorry and bus driver training to anyone wishing to make a career change driving trucks and buses for the first time, or for experienced drivers renewing their mandatory LGV or PCV qualifications.
