Welcome To L&T Transport Training Services
The Number One choice for your LGV or PCV Driver Training
L&T Transport Training Services are a family-owned and operated LGV and PCV Driver Training Centre. We have been providing professional driving qualification to new drivers and experienced drivers in Yorkshire since 1986.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to take your first step towards an LGV or PCV driving career or an experienced driver looking to upgrade your licence, we have got you covered.
Our training centre is conveniently located in Fitzwilliam, West Yorkshire. With excellent transport links, we serve the whole of Yorkshire and beyond offering LGV and PCV training courses that range from C1 to C E and D1 to D.
We’re also an Approved Centre for:
- CPC Periodic Training
- ADR transport of dangerous goods
- HIAB operation of Lorry Loaders.
In March 2012, we became the first DVSA customer site for Lorry and Bus tests in the region. This means that all candidates train and test with us at our Fitzwilliam Training Centre. The on-road driving test is carried out by DVSA Driving Examiners who are based at our site. Your reverse test will be conducted by one of our own reversing assessors.
Our training and conference facility, ‘The Eber Suite,’ can accommodate up to 20 candidates seated at desks and our computer suite with eight individual workstations.
L&T offers a competitive, all-inclusive driver training service that is tailored to suit your needs. Our LGV or PCV driver training courses are designed to prepare you for a successful driving test and career, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced driver. We pride ourselves on our professional service, and personal care we afford all customers.
Customer FAQ’s
How long will it take to get a licence?
The whole process from medical to passing the test can take between 6 and 8 weeks. Most of this time is waiting for the provisional licence to be returned from DVLA and waiting for a theory date.
How long is the driving course?
This depends on the vehicle. For D1 & C1 vehicles, this can be completed over 3 or 4 days. For CAT C & D, this can be completed in around 4 days and CE between 4 and 6 days depending on previous experience.
What’s the difference between LGV & HGV or PCV & PSV?
There is no difference. During the 1990’s, lorries were referred to as Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and we had Class 3, Class 2 & Class 1. Class 3 and 2 were merged and became Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) Category C and Class 1 became Category C+E. The industry uses both old and new terms. At the same time, busses & coaches were referred to as Public Service Vehicles (PSV) became Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV).
Is there an age requirement for HGV training?
You must be at least 18 years old to start HGV driver training. There are no upper age limits, provided you meet the health and fitness requirements.
