Category C+E (Artic) Training

To obtain an artic (Cat. C+E) licence, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must hold or qualify for a rigid (Cat. C) Licence
  • You do not need to take a theory test

After passing the rigid driving test (Cat. C), there is a short waiting period of about three weeks. This is normally the time it takes the DVLA to issue you with your full licence for category ‘C’ and your provisional for category ‘C+E’.

Existing rigid drivers should automatically hold a provisional entitlement for category ‘C+E’ which enables them to commence training immediately.

You do not need to take a theory or hp test for this vehicle class.

The vehicle we use for upgrading to C+E is a DAF, packed with features designed to make driving as safe as possible.

A common fear for candidates upgrading to an artic licence relates to reversing. This is not a problem for us as we have our own private reversing area where as much time as necessary can be spent perfecting the art. We also have a classroom facility were drivers are advised on the theoretical side of driving.
