L & T Transport Training Services

Category B+E Car and Trailer

We regularly have drivers attending our training centre who have been driving cars and trailers illegally for some time – and there will be many more.

Drivers who passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 are required to pass an additional driving test in order to tow large trailers and gain a B+E entitlement. This is an area of the driving law that has changed and consequently, many people are unaware of its existence.

What Next?

To obtain a B+E licence, candidates must be at least 17 years old and hold a full car (Category ‘B’) licence. A Provisional Category ‘BE’ licence will be automatically issued with a full car licence.

A driving assessment is the next stage, enabling our instructor to establish what training is required. The training can be tailored to suit your own needs. We operate 7 days a week and have practical tests pre booked so training can be arranged around the driving test.

We have our own vehicle for training or training can be arranged using your own vehicle if required. It is also possible to use your own vehicle to pull our trailer. This would enable you to drive your car to our training centre and pick up our trailer and instructor.
