Starting Vehicle Driver Training
Our Starter Package is the point where your journey with L&T Transport Training Services begins. It contains everything you need in order to be in a position to start your driver training course to obtain your lorry or bus licence.
The first thing you’ll need is a LGV or PCV Provisional Licence. In order to obtain a provisional licence an application needs to be sent, along with a completed medical form, to the DVLA at Swansea. By far the best, easiest and almost certainly cheapest option is to come along to our training centre and let us carry out the medical. Our company Doctor normally visits twice a week to conduct the medical.
When you arrive at our training centre, at the agreed time, we can help with the completion of all the relevant forms to ensure that these are filled in correctly. If any mistakes are made when completing the forms, this will cause delays in the return of the provisional entitlement.
When attending for the medical, we’ll provide you with a theory book (theory disc can be obtained at an additional cost) in order to start studying whilst waiting for your licence to arrive.
All candidates will need to take a Hazard Perception test and a Multi Choice theory test. You might also need a CPC case study (module 2) test. This test forms part of the Driver CPC requirement. To find out if you need one of these tests, please check out our Driver CPC page.
Our starter package includes access to our Computer Suite where you can take mock theory tests and practice for the Hazard Perception test.
When your provisional licence comes back, the appropriate theories test can be booked. Then, when you’ve passed the theory test, we can arrange your driver training and test.
